Scientific workflow

From CASRAI dictionary

Scientific workflow

A set of chained operations. The simplest computerized scientific workflows are scripts that can involve several ingredients such as data, programs, models and other inputs such as human or sensor observations. Workflows produce outputs that may include, for example, visualizations and analytical results. Preserved workflows are important for reproducible research. They simplify complex sequences of activities and enable researchers to automate and track the provenance of the work in workflow execution. Workflow scripts are digital objects.
